US MODELS WITH SAT BUTTON HAVE OPTION OF CD CHANGER OR SATELLITE RADIO FIRMWARE
IF YOUR US MODEL DOES NOT HAVE THE SAT BUTTON, YOU WILL NEED THE CD CHANGER FIRMWARE.
GENERALLY, SATELLITE RADIO (which is only found in US models, and some Canadian) HAS THE ABILITY TO DISPLAY TEXT, AND WILL DO SO USING SATELLITE RADIO FIRMWARE.
NON-US MODELS (and some Canadian) DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO ACCESS SATELLITE RADIO (CALLED SIRIUS OR XM) AND DO NOT HAVE THE CIRCUITRY TO DISPLAY TEXT. IN THIS CASE, PLEASE INFORM US AND WE WILL HAVE EITHER CD CHANGER FIRMWARE INSTALLED OR WE MAY HAVE YOU REFLASH THE MODULE WITH CD CHANGER FIRMWARE.
CD CHANGER FIRMWARE WILL DISPLAY NUMBERS INSTEAD OF TEXT, BECAUSE THE STEREO IS NOT CAPABLE OF DISPLAYING TEXT.
PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE SATELLITE RADIO WITH WHAT IS CALLED "SAT NAV", WHICH IS GPS NAVIGATION. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME.
